About the Exhibition
He works directly on the floor and the table, pouring and dragging paint until it finds its own shape.
The exhibition shows large abstract canvases built from layers of poured pigment, broad brushwork, and controlled accident.
These works invite visitors to watch color behave to settle, bleed, and collide rather than to follow a fixed image.
Lucien Marchetti

Born in 1965 in Lyon, Lucien Marchetti lives and works between Lyon and the Belgian countryside. Trained first as a restorer of old paintings, he later abandoned the brush for the bucket, developing a process built on pouring, dripping, and brushing raw pigment directly onto canvas laid flat on the floor.
Where his early work was close to monochrome, his recent paintings bring in bursts of red, ochre, and turquoise against fields of white and grey. Marchetti's process is physical and unplanned: he begins with no sketch, letting the paint's own weight and movement decide where a composition settles. His canvases are often large, made to be walked around rather than simply looked at, treating the studio floor as much a tool as any brush.
Marchetti's work has been shown across Belgium and France, and is held in several private collections. He continues to work the way he started — barefoot, standing over the canvas, judging a painting finished only once the paint itself stops moving.
I don't decide where the color goes. I tilt the canvas, I pour, and I watch. The painting tells me when it's finished not the other way around."
