About the Exhibition
More than a series of paintings — a study of rooms left mid-thought.
He uses flat shapes, bold color blocks, and collaged textures to recreate domestic interiors — bedrooms, desks, half-finished paper planes scattered across the floor.
The exhibition shows how memory flattens a room into pattern and color. These works invite visitors to look closely at the small, overlooked objects that quietly furnish a space.
Georges Adéagbo

Born in 1974 in Porto-Novo, Georges Adéagbo lives and works in Cotonou. Embracing the spirit of collecting as a means to expand knowledge and meaning, the breadth of objects and materials used across Adéagbo's practice are the result of many years of walking.
Where his installations are influenced by found and discarded objects, his large-scale arrangements, often laid out like maps, timelines or shrines, assert matters of memory, history, displacement, and belief, as fundamental. Adéagbo's work looks through a history of colonial encounter from Benin to Europe, challenging what constitutes the foreign and the familiar, the archive and the street.
At the core of Adéagbo's practice is accumulation. Influenced by daily walks through Cotonou and decades spent gathering what others have left behind, his installation work explores the interplay of histories that are created and constructed between objects and place.
I fold paper the way I paint a room slowly, imperfectly, until it holds its shape. The planes that fall on the table, the ones still mid-air, they all belong to the same quiet practice.
